Overgrown grass, splotchy stained concrete or just plain dirt can take away from your desired backyard scene. A unique solution to create an entertainment oasis is outdoor tile.
Though tile is usually thought of as an indoor adornment, there are many different styles and types that can be used outside to add flair to your yard.
“Outdoor tile can make a more decorated look for outdoor living,” says Cheryl Ingrassia, Owner of Southern California Tile. There are various types of tile that can provide different styles or atmosphere for your backyard.

To create a more designer feel, Cheryl suggests a warm terra cotta or natural stone like tile “that will look great when entertaining.”
Considering the summer heat, tile is a great alternative to concrete or wooden decks that heat up during the day and burn your feet. Tile stays cool in the shade, keeping your entertaining area comfortable. Also, tile is durable and stain resistant, which makes it great for outdoors.
In particular, tile is especially durable against our Southern California weather. Cheryl recommends porcelain tile as one of the best kinds of outdoor tile.
“It is acid and frost resistant and comes in many sizes, textures and colors,” Cheryl says. Southern California Tile offers this tile and many other types and textures that fit both your indoor and outdoor needs.
