Signs It Is Time To Update

800px-WMF_offices_cabling_IMG_0850Some of the most common electrical problems in your home are very minor, like a set of outlets or lights going dead but other problems can be more complicated such as tripping circuit breakers.

With most homes, there are enough circuits established that using basic appliances such as the microwave and washer at the same time isn’t detrimental to the circuit itself nor does it cause any issues with regards to it shutting down.

Unfortunately, older homes built in the 1950s or 1960s that haven’t undergone renovation may have problems with circuits frequently shutting down. Older circuits are not as equipped to deal with the high voltage of modern appliances.

Other problems with older homes are that sometimes they have cloth or aluminum covered wiring. This type of wiring can become a fire hazard.

The only way to fix problems like this would be to contact an electrician and have your house rewired to establish more circuits.

While this may be costly, it will be worth the cost if you plan on selling your home. During inspection, you may be forced to compensate for faulty circuits.

“Some homes in SCV, specifically older homes, have aluminum covered wires. These wires get hotter when you run electricity through them. We can go in and make the wires much safer,” Judd Boykin of Valencia Electric said.

Since 2004 Valencia Electric has been serving the Santa Clarita Valley and offers a range of services including whole house rewiring at a reasonable cost.
