I love to shop the flea markets. My favorite is the Rose Bowl flea market (second Sunday of the month). There are so many treasures to be found.
A great use for flea market finds is to create fun containers for your garden and patio. I have purchased galvanized steel containers to re-purpose as planters, some other great choices are old watering cans or wood dough bowls.
Martha Stewart offers this wonderful Spring decorating idea with old-fashioned enamel milk pails. I suggest garage sales and antique fairs as a great source for these pails, if you are not near the Rose Bowl Flea Market.
Stewart suggests… place sword ferns (Nephrolepis obliterata ‘Kimberly Queen’) or similar plants in 10-inch pots inside large buckets (above); consider ferns in 4- to 8-inch pots for smaller pails. If the bucket is too deep, put an upturned plastic pot inside, and stand the plant on top. Remove plant to water.
