Turn Your Tax Return Into a Brand New Kitchen, Bathroom With Surfaces USA

Ed. Note: The following is a KHTS Feature story based on a recent radio interview with Surfaces USA.

By the end of January, most homeowners have taken down their often elaborate holiday decorations and are left with bare spaces that might feel plain in contrast. With tax season just around the corner, homeowners can turn their tax return into an updated kitchen or bathroom with the help of Surfaces USA in Castaic.

“People do that; we start seeing it right around the first of the year,” said Jen Brown, interior designer and owner of Surfaces USA. “We start seeing people shop and get an idea of what they need as far as to hold out our pull away from their tax return, and what they need to make sure they hit for their tax return in order to do a kitchen or a bathroom.”Santa Clarita Design Center Surfaces USA

Brown noted that Surfaces USA usually has returning customers from year to year who come back right around tax season to update a different area of their house, whether it’s the kitchen, master bathroom, guest bathroom or more.

“People start being aware this time of year of how maybe dated (surfaces are) or that they’re ready for a change,” Brown said. “It’s a good time to do it.”

Surfaces USA is the only slab yard in the Santa Clarita Valley, and offers a variety of one-of-a-kind natural stone, tile, glass and slab.

“Because every piece is going to be so different, put a deposit on it,” Brown said. “If you come in and look again in a week, chances are it probably will not be there.”

Updating kitchen or bathroom countertops can not only enhance the immediate beauty of the home, it also increases its value long-term when it comes time to sell.

Most potential buyers prefer solid surface countertops like granite, quartz or marble instead of dated tile, according to Brown.

“They may not love it, but they’re going to be happy that they have a solid surface versus a tile,” she said, “and they would be more inclined to go with the house that has that versus the house that does not.”
