Recent election welcomes new executive committee.

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project is proud to announce the election of a new Executive Committee. The Board of Directors of the SCV Youth Project elected the following officers: President, John Musella of Newhall Land; Vice President, Kelly Bruno of the National Health Foundation; Secretary, Brian Koegle Esq. of Poole and Shaffery; and Treasurer, Tom Hough, CPA. “This is truly an exciting time for the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project,” said John Musella, president of the board of directors. “We are a strong, growing organization that has such a positive impact on youth across the Santa Clarita Valley, especially our high school students. Our new executive committee is a dynamic group of business executives that are ready to take the Youth Project to the next level.”

The Santa Clarita Valley Youth Project has been successfully providing services to teens on six local high schools for seven years and has recently expanded onto four junior high campuses. “In 2007, through direct services and outreach, the Youth Project assisted more than 2000 youth in the Santa Clarita Valley with serious life challenges, including depression, suicide, grief/loss, peer pressure and drug/alcohol abuse”, said Kim Goldman, executive director. “The world today is so different then the one we grew up in and today’s youth have more serious challenges and issues to deal with,” said Goldman. “We are the only non-profit in the Santa Clarita Valley that works with youth in a one-on-one situation, on school campuses, to help them through their difficult times. Helping our youth is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.”

The outgoing executive committee includes Stacy Miller, Maggi Havas, Nancy Starcyzk and Jeff Lambert. All will remain actively involved as members of the Board of Directors. “We are truly indebted to the outgoing executive committee for their years of service to the Youth Project and for creating the strong foundation on which we stand today,” said Musella.

The SCV Youth Project helps kids facing such serious issues as drug/alcohol abuse, anger, divorce, peer pressure, grief/loss, suicide, depression, etc. The Youth Project offers free, bilingual, one-to-one or group counseling, distribute FRY cards (which lists emergency numbers) and leads a variety of specialized youth programs.
