SCV’s Most Talented Search Is On

D.E.E.Studio Productions Performing Arts Academy is hosting a talent search for Santa Clarita’s ‘Most Talented Performer’

Producer/Director Nancy Dee Horak, entertainer, actor and director of the D.E.E. Studio’s Academy comments,  “This 2009 competition will be more competitive and amazing than the previous two – combined!”  The contest is open to vocalists, musicians and actors this year.

There are four age categories:  Category I – Ages 5 to 8, Category II – Ages 9 to 12, Category III – Ages 13 to 17 and Category IV – Ages 18 and up (including seniors).

The previous competition named vocalist/guitarist Coffey Anderson, now a Nashville recording artist, the Over-All Most Talented Performer, with Taylor Donti, age 11, in 2nd Place.  The grand prize awarded then was $1,000 cash and a $1,000 recording session.  This year’s grand prize includes a $2,000 cash award and a recording session valued at $1,000 (for a winner who is a vocalist or musician) or a screen test (if he/she is an actor).

Additionally, first place winners in each of the other age categories will walk away with a cash award of $500 and miscellaneous prizes provided by sponsors.  The voting process includes the audience’ – family and friends of the contestants – as 25% of the total votes.  Moreover, 75% does come from the judges, specialists involved in the entertainment industry.

Serving as co-director is vocalist Christine Day, a talent casting director for musicians and vocalists in film and television.  Ruben Moreno, actor, director, screenwriter, drama coach and two-time Academy Award nominee, will direct the acting division.

Among the panelists are: saxophonist and 2005 Grammy Nominated ‘Best New Artist’, Paul ‘Shilts’ Weimar, who will role-play as SCV’s Simon Cowell; vocal artist/musician Ali Woodson; pianist/vocalist Dona Oxford, entertainer and music composer for film and television; and vocalists, Glodean and Shaherah White, widow and daughter of the late Barry White.

The preliminaries are Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23.  All competition showcases will be held at the ‘Bella Cucina’ restaurant, 27430 The Old Road in Valencia Registration forms are available at the restaurant and various music venues and locations throughout the valley.
