Seat Opening On Newhall School Board Nearing Deadline

khts_schools_chalkboardThe Newhall School District is in the process of accepting applications for a vacancy on the District Governing Board due to a recent resignation.

All registered voters who reside within the district’s boundaries and who want to be considered for a provisional appointment to a Board seat can apply.

All applications must be received at the District Office by Noon, Friday, November 20, 2009. To request an application, contact Wendy Stimson at 661-291-4000. Additional information regarding the appointment process is available on the Newhall School District’s website at www.newhallschooldistrict.net

The Board will interview eligible applicants and make a provisional appointment to the seat on December 1, 2009. The person selected, if not challenged by the electorate, will hold office until November 2011, when he/she may then run in open election for a new four-year term. There are five members on the Newhall School District Governing Board.

The Newhall School District Governing Board is the legal elected Board of the local elementary school district that serves the Newhall, Valencia, Stevenson Ranch and Westridge communities. A detailed map of the Newhall School District boundaries is available at the District Office or on the district website.

The Governing Board is responsible for policy decisions relating to the educational, student, facilities and budgeting issues of the District.
