Thanks to the triple-digit temperatures and the huge demand on power supplies, officials are asking residents to conserve energy to prevent having to shut off power…
Southern California Edison set record demand on Thursday, supplying about 21,800 megawatts, which surpassed the previous record of 21,112 megawatts set Wednesday. A megawatt is enough power to serve about 750 average homes.
Setting thermostats to 78 degrees, keeping all lights and other appliances off when not needed, and saving heavy electricity loads (like washing/drying machines) until off-peak hours will help in the conservation effort.
