I was born and raised in Sunland where I attended Verdugo Hills. I went on to CSUN and became an elementary school teacher here in Canyon Country 1971. I taught 2 years in 4th grade and 28 years in kindergarten at Sulphur Springs School. I just loved teaching and my focus was on music and production events like our annual circus. It wasn’t until I retired in 2001, that I became interested in oil painting. College of the Canyons offered a free course for seniors on painting. I found a local artist who gave lessons, and really enjoyed the experience. My husband’s bucket list was to travel the first 10 years of retirement. We have visited 93 countries and all 7 continents. While he is taking pictures, I choose some to turn into oil paintings.
My teacher has moved, so I just continue to paint on my own now. I am so excited to be chosen for KHTS first winner of their monthly art contest. It is such an honor and I do appreciate it!!
