Senior Center Releases Details For Celebrity Waiter Event

Hundreds of revelers, dressed in costumes based on a “Beyond the Sea” theme, will fill the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Valencia Friday evening, Feb. 23, for the SCV Senior Center’s annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner.

With its elaborately decorated tables, costumes and live entertainment, the dinner is one of the most fun-filled fundraising events of the Santa Clarita social season. Proceeds will support local services for senior citizens, including home delivered meals, respite day care and supportive services.

Master of ceremonies will be singing attorney Bill Lively, who is also in charge of arranging a full program of musical entertainment for the evening, based on the event’s “Beyond the Sea” theme.

The “celebrity” waiters who will preside over each table will open the evening by “surfing” around the room as they are introduced. Once at their tables, they will instigate various stunts and services to obtain “tips” from their guests, which also will support the Senior Center.

Other performances will include two production numbers from the Broadway hit “Hairspray,” performed by a troupe from Canyon Theatre Guild. A live band will perform beach themed music and other songs related to the event theme. Seniors who benefit from Senior Center services, and those who present those services, will offer short, stirring testimonials during the evening.

“We’ll have a lot of fun,” remarked event co-chair Peggy Rasmussen, “but we’ll keep in mind throughout the evening why we’re doing this–to support our local senior community.”

Table hosts have already reserved their tables and are inviting guests this week. However, some individual seats may still be available, at $100 each, by calling Lisa at 259-9444.
