Preschoolers make special gifts for shut-in seniors.
A special group of senior citizens got a Valentine surprise this week when members of GRANDS – a new group in town created to build a connection between the community and seniors in the area.
Around each heart-shaped box of chocolates was a care with the outline of a child’s hand, containing their well-wishes and hopes for a happy Valentine’s Day.
The GRANDS group is already working on their next project, Easter “basket” shoeboxes with gifts for shut-in seniors throughout Santa Clarita.
If you’d like to help with this worthwhile project, contact Gerri McCorkle at (661) 618-2629. GRANDS will hold an open community meeting Tuesday Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Adult Day Care Center, 22903 Soledad Canyon Road, Saugus.
