SENSES To Kick Off Third Thursday Tradition

sensesFor one night only, Old Town Newhall will become a “big hair and Spandex” zone for its new event this Thursday, when SENSES kicks off a new Third Thursday tradition.

Turning the flux capacitors to the 1980s, the city’s Arts and Events staff will host SENSES, where the word will be “party on, dude” and hair bands, heavy metal, people wearing neon colors, crimped hair and lots of crazy jewelry and old school video games will take to the street after the traditional Newhall farmer’s market, which will be held from 3 to 7 p.m.

At 7, the party goes live with music, gourmet treats and entertainment. SENSES will take place the third Thursday of every month and is designed to heighten participants’ sense of sight, smell, touch, taste, and sound with a new theme every month, as well as live music and entertainment, art displays, festive food trucks, drinks, and much more.

For the first month, Main Street will go back to the days of metal bands and big hair. Leg warmers, muscle shirts and acid-washed jeans will be not just allowed, but encouraged at this fun ’80s party, where everyone can dance to the Young Guns, who will play ‘totally awesome’ tunes into the night. Grab a specialty drink, play classic Atari and get an ’80s-style makeover.

There’s even a chance that cast members from the Canyon Theatre Guild’s production of the ’80s hit “Footloose” will cut it in the street. Stay tuned. Be surprised.
