The victim, a pregnant 27-year-old Newhall woman, was securing her son in his car seat when a man in a car parked next to her outside of Macy’s exposed himself.
“It was a very scary moment and (Sheriff’s Station deputies) are still looking for him,” said the victim, who shared her story on the condition of anonymity. “I just want people to be aware.”
The Valencia zone leader for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit confirmed the incident was part of an active investigation by station officials.
“Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are investigating the incident,” said Deputy Brian Heischuber of the Sheriff’s Station Crime Prevention Unit.
The man appeared to be a white man with brown hair, prescription glasses, wearing a striped polo shirt, driving a white Chrysler minivan with out of state license plates, she said.
The suspect took off as soon as the victim took out her phone and began to take his picture. Deputies arrived shortly thereafter to take a report, she said.
“I don’t know if the man had been watching or stalking me play with my son at the mall or what,” the victim stated. “I am writing this because I please pray and hope you tell my story — especially for the busy mom walking to her car looking like the perfect target.”
Anyone with any information about the incident, or if they know of a similar incident, they should call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at 661-255-1121, he said.
There were no other reports of a similar incident in the past week, he said.
