A blasting cap is a small tube filled with detonating substances and is used to detonate high explosives, according to Dictionary.com.

The informant discovered the blasting cap on Wednesday but called the Sheriff’s Station Friday morning, Ballentine said.

Updated at 11:56 a.m.

The blasting cap was detonated already and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Arson and Explosives Unit are en route to clean it up, Ballentine said.
