Sheriff’s Station detectives re-circulated the name of their suspect in hopes that it would lead to an arrest, and justice for a man who was stabbed and left for dead in a Newhall apartment back in 1998.

Shortly after the crime, deputies sought Miguel Angel Morales Oroszco, who also goes by Miguel Morales and Miguel Oroszco Morales, for questioning.

“The case was thoroughly investigated at the time of the assault, and a warrant was issued,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Crime Prevention Unit. “But authorities have been unable to find (Orozco).”

Orozco is about 38 years old, Hispanic, with short, black hair, brown eyes, 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 180 pounds and has a thin mustache, based on a description released around the time of the initial assault.

Deputies said they do not have a current picture of Orozco, only the description they’ve released.

He has a $1 million warrant out for his arrest for the charge, Dubin said.

The victim, a 32-year-old man who was not identified, was left in intensive care after the attack in his apartment, which happened at 2:45 a.m.

He was treated for multiple stab wounds, including a collapsed lung and severed artery, he said.

Anyone with information about the crime or the whereabouts of the suspect should call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station or contact Detective John Mundell at JBMundel@lasd.org.

Orozco’s last known address was listed as Santa Clarita, but detectives are trying to determine if he’s still in the vicinity.
