Santa Clarita Deputies Seek Help With Suspect In Gun Club Theft

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect who broke into the Oak Tree Gun Club and stole more than $1,800 worth of ammunition

An unknown man kicked in a door around 6:50 p.m. April 26 at the Oak Tree Gun Club on the 23100 block of Coltrane Avenue in Newhall, in the unincorporated part of Los Angeles County.

A suspect in theft at Oak Tree Gun Club

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives immediately began following leads and have now released surveillance video and still photos taken from the location in hopes of identifying the suspect involved in this incident.

The suspect stole a rifle case, a bottle of water and the ammunition from the business, which was closed for business at the time of the theft, according to Sheriff’s Station officials. There was no gun in the rifle case, and no weapons were taken, according to officials.

The stolen items include: 2,000 .556-caliber bullets; 250 30-caliber American Eagle bullets; 500 .45 caliber bullets; 500 9-millimeter bullets; a $79 rifle case; and a $1 bottle of water.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives immediately began following leads and have now released surveillance video and still photos taken from the location in hopes of identifying the suspect involved in this incident.

A fingerprint technician was called to the scene after the theft, but Sheriff’s Station officials said they could not comment further regarding the details of an active investigation.
