Santa Clarita Valley Deputies Arrest 5 On Drug-Related Charges

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies made five drug-related arrests this past week, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.

Two men were pulled over Monday night in Valencia, after a Sheriff’s Station deputy ran a license plate for a gray Inifiniti that came back with an outstanding warrant for a previous narcotics-related incident, officials said.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Tournament Road and McBean Parkway around 5:30 p.m.

Deputies also seized a large amount of cash in a black Adidas duffel bag, which is under investigation by detectives with the Narcotics Bureau, according to Lt. Brenda Cambra of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“It’s being investigated to see if (the source of the cash) was legal or not,” Cambra said. Sheriff’s Station officials did not disclose how much cash was found in the bag.

Mitchel Szpak had an outstanding warrant, and Gregory Szpak was arrested on suspicion of heroin possession.

A Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station K-9 unit investigated the vehicle after the suspects were arrested, and no additional narcotics appeared to have been found, officials said.

Mitchel Szpak is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail for a misdemeanor charge. Gregory Szpak is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail on a felony charge.

In an unrelated incident, three men were arrested for a grow operation taking place near the Templin Highway exit of Interstate 5 in North Los Angeles County.

Adrinn Esparza-Haro, 21; Ramiro Delgado-Perez, 22; and Manuel Mendoza, 22, were all arrested by deputies with the Marijuana Eradication Team, Cambra said.That unit is headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, she said.

  1. Well hopefully they all get clean after this… Santa Clarita has to do more outreach as a community to fix the heroin and meth problem or else this will keep happening.
