Sean Nagle, 45, of Valencia, was booked on assault with a deadly weapon and an attempted robbery charge, after employees said he tried to steal the keys to their business by force on the 25300 block of Magic Mountain Parkway, near Tourney Road, in Santa Clarita.

Sheriff’s Station officials commended the informants in the incident for immediately contacting the Sheriff’s Station after becoming concerned.

“We always encourage residents to contact the Sheriff’s Station with concerns about public safety in the community,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“It’s part of the reason why we put Nixle reports out detailing crime trends in the Santa Clarita Valley,” he added. “If residents see something, we want them to say something.”

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies believe Nagle was trying to steal the keys of a commercial office building around 12:50 p.m. Saturday. The assault charge stems from witnesses reporting Nagle pointed a gun at employees after becoming upset.

Nagle reportedly entered the building and then demanded the master key from an employee, who refused. Nagle allegedly became agitated and mentioned he was an employee of the Central Intelligence Agency, according to witness reports.

After another employee became involved, and also refused to relinquish keys, Nagle brandished a black handgun, according to a Sheriff’s Station report.

The suspect was detained at a nearby business shortly after deputies arrived on scene. Witnesses’ reports led deputies to finding a handgun Nagle allegedly waved at employees.

The gun reportedly was loaded.

Initial reports did not indicate if drugs or alcohol were involved in the alleged crimes.

Nagle is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
