Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station Keeps Community Informed On Crime Prevention

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials posted some of their activities this week to the station’s Facebook page to give residents a glimpse at what the station deputies do to keep the community safe.

Highlights include the Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue Team saving a lost hiker and the Sheriff’s Special Assignment Team deputies visiting parolees and arresting two men with outstanding warrants.

Station officials also urged residents to continue reporting suspicious behavior after they arrested a man for drug possession in Canyon Country based on a tip from the public.

July 19: Lost Hiker Found

The Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue Team assisted the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station and Montrose Search & Rescue to help locate a missing hiker in Big Tujunga Canyon on July 19. The missing hiker was found that day and reported to be in good condition, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Facebook page.

July 19: See Something, Say Something

Deputies were contacted on Wednesday morning, July 19, by a resident who reported a suspicious person in Canyon Country, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Facebook Page. When deputies arrived to the location, they arrested a 34-year-old male for possession of illegal drugs.

July 20: Keeping Parolees In Check

On July 20, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Special Assignment Team (SAT) deputies visited several parolees who were identified as gang members and conducted a parole sweep, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Facebook page. SAT Team deputies conducted the sweep to make sure parolees living in Santa Clarita were obeying their parole conditions and noted the parolees checked for compliance were “all on parole on violent crimes.”

July 21: Bike Patrol

The Special Assignment Team (SAT) deputies conducted a uniformed bike patrol on Friday night, July 21, around Santa Clarita and took two men into custody for outstanding warrants, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Facebook Page. Deputies arrested a 23-year-old man from Canyon Country who had outstanding warrants in the system totaling $55,000. Deputies patrolling the other side of town arrested a 40-year-old man in Valencia for outstanding warrants and possession of controlled substances.    

July 24: Home On The Range

The Santa Clarita Sheriff deputies are required to routinely train at the station’s mobile shooting range to keep their skills sharp, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Facebook Page. Station officials posted a picture to their Facebook page showing off how deputies meet qualifications with their firearms through the station’s mobile range.

  1. What can be done to stop the graffiti around park sierra. After almost two months of no graffiti around park sierra, tonight I observed the graffiti back again by BF.
