Suspect Who Fled Traffic Stop Booked On Methamphetamine Possession Charge

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a suspect Thursday, after he’d been sought for more than 24 hours for fleeing from a traffic stop.

The suspect was found in a vehicle with approximately 88 pounds of methamphetamine.

The suspect was in a gray Scion on Interstate 5 around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, when he and another man were pulled over for a traffic stop north of the Templin Highway exit, according to Lt. Tom Bryski.

Deputies placed the suspect in the back of a patrol car while they conducted a search of the vehicle, which is where the suspect escaped from, officials said.Santa Clarita deputies seized 88 pounds of methamphetamine Wednesday

“He was being detained in the back of a radio car and he kicked out a rear window, climbed out of the car and ran across the freeway into ravine,” Bryski said.

More than two dozen Sheriff’s Station deputies searched the valleys and ravines off the southbound side of the freeway while two sheriff’s helicopters assisted with the search from the air.

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 unit responded to the area and also assisted in the search for the suspect who fled.

Around 8 p.m. Thursday, deputies received reports the unnamed suspect who fled the scene was in the area

Deputies again took to searching the area, with the assistance of a Sheriff’s Department helicopter and California Highway Patrol officers.

Deputies found their suspect near the Paradise Ranch Mobile Home Park, inside of an empty water tank.

Antonio Magnavillalobo, 32, of Fresno, is being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, and he’s due in court in San Fernando on Monday, according to Sheriff’s Station arrest records.

He was booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on narcotics-related charges.
