A Santa Clarita Valley motorcyclist was killed in a collision Sunday night in Canyon Country, officials said.
A DUI and driver’s license checkpoint held Friday by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies resulted in three arrests, Sheriff’s Station officials announced Saturday.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies are responding to a man standing on the roof of his Canyon Country house, the same location where deputies responded to a call last Tuesday.
Crime Reports

Here are the crime reports for Canyon Country East, Canyon Country West, Castaic/ Val Verde, Newhall, Saugus, and Valencia.
Canyon Country East
There were several vehicles that were reported stolen from Zone 8 last week. A 1999 Saturn SC2 red in color was stolen from the 18300 block of Oakmont Drive. The victim left the keys in the vehicle. This vehicle is still outstanding. A 1997 green Honda CRV was taken from 27520 Sierra Highway. This vehicle is still outstanding. There was a 2001 silver Volvo V70 stolen from Jason Drive and Via Princessa. This vehicle is still outstanding.
A residential burglary occurred near the 17600 block of Kelly Lane. The suspect entered the location through the open upstairs window. The suspect stole a Sony 32” TV, “Harley Davidson” watch, “Harley Davidson” backpack and a wood humidor.
There was a residential burglary reported near the 27300 block of Palo Verde Place. The front door was kicked in and the suspect ransacked the apartment. The suspect stole an Xbox, WII gaming system, miscellaneous jewelry and Beats headphones.
A landlord of a home on the 17200 block of Mt Stephen, kicked open his tenants garage door and entered the location. The suspect was still inside the house when deputies arrived. The suspect was arrested for burglary and criminal threats.
A burglary was reported near the 27300 block of Evi Lane. The suspect entered the location through the living room window by removing the screen. The suspect stole $4700 cash, a pearl necklace, pearl earrings, gold wristwatch, birth certificates and social security cards.
A vehicle burglary was reported near the 27300 block of Red Bud Place. The suspect stole a Subaru generator and a Dewalt polisher from the van. Entry was obtained through the passenger side door by unknown means.
A vehicle burglary was reported at Jakes Way/14 freeway. The suspect shattered the passenger window of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect stole an in dash Kenwood navigation system, tool bag, Makita drill, and the victim’s garage door opener.

Canyon Country West
A robbery occurred near Ellis Henry Avenue in Canyon Country. The victim was assaulted by five suspects. During the assault, the suspects stole numerous items from the victim while he was on the ground. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.
A robbery occurred near the 19400 block of Soledad Canyon Road. Five separate suspects entered the location and began concealing store items. When confronted by an employee at the location, one of the suspects pushed the employee and the five suspects ran away. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.
A residential burglary occurred near the 19800 block of Sandpiper Place. Suspect(s) unknown entered the victims open garage and stole numerous power tools from within. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.
A grand theft auto occurred near the 26700 block of Isabella Parkway and near the 18900 block of Soledad Canyon Road. In both incidents, the vehicle were parked in a parking spot. Both vehicle are still outstanding. These incidents are currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.
A grand theft occurred near the 20000 block of Tanager Court. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victims tailgate from his vehicle while it was parked in front of the victims residence. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.
Castaic and Val Verde
An assault was reported from the intersection of Cromwell Avenue and Del Valle Road. A passerby stopped to check on the welfare of a female in an argument with a male in the roadway. Due to the aggressive behavior of the suspect, the passerby physically restrained the suspect till the female could get in her car and leave. While leaving the location himself, the suspect struck the passerby with his vehicle and crashed into a parked car. The suspect then fled the scene on foot to his residence where he called the police to report an assault. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies.
A theft was reported from the 27000 block of Quincy Street. The victim reported a Kenwood stereo stolen from the center console of his 2004 Nissan Sentra. There was no signs of forced entry to the vehicle. The stereo was estimated at $600.
A theft was reported from the 29000 block of Cambridge Avenue. The victim reported a Dewalt drill and work jacket stolen from the front passenger seat of his 2010 Chevy work van. The vehicle passenger door lock was “punched” and the loss was estimated at $200.

A petty theft was reported in the 20000 block of Chris Place on December 20th. The victim stated an acquaintance stolen personal items belonging to her from her residence overnight. Detectives are working on this incident.
There was a grand theft reported in the 22400 block of Georgia Lane which occurred sometime in the last month. The victim stated he had high end jewelry stolen from his residence sometime over the past month. He believes the items were taken by workers he had in the house at the time.
Newhall
Between Thursday the 18th at 3:30 p.m., and Friday the 19th at 8:00 a.m., a garage was burglarized in the 24200 block of Race Street. Tools and appliances were stolen.
On Fri. the 19th, between 2 – 6 a.m., a burglary occurred in the 25000 block of Walnut Street. The suspect removed a screen and forced open a window. The victim could not determine if anything was stolen.
Last week showed a spike in stolen vehicles in the area between Dockweiler Drive and Newhall Avenue, along Valle Del Oro. Three sedans, two pickups, and one motorcycle were reported stolen. One of the sedans has been recovered.
Most vehicles that are reported stolen throughout Los Angeles County are late 1990’s to early 2000’s, when the technology for “chipped” or electronic ignitions was still being developed. If your vehicle falls within this category, we recommend you take extra care in safeguarding it. Steering wheel locking devices, car alarms, and ignition disabling systems are just some of the ways you can make your vehicle less desirable to a would be thief.
Between Fri., Dec. the 19th at 5:40 p.m., and Sat. the 20th at 4:20 a.m., a window smash vehicle burglary occurred in the 23600 block of White Oak Court. A lady’s purse and a Mickey Mouse hat were stolen.
On Tues. Dec. the 16th, between 3 – 4 p.m., a cash register was stolen from a business in the 23700 block of Newhall Avenue. An employee was working in the back and was unaware the theft had occurred.
On Thur. Dec. the 18th, an informant called to report a 43 year old male acting suspiciously in a park near a school. Deputies contacted the male and discovered he was in possession of an open alcohol container and had a probation warrant. The male was arrested and during booking, the deputies also discovered the male had narcotics. The male is currently awaiting court proceedings.
Valencia
A robbery occurred from the 27000 block of McBean Parkway. An unidentified male Hispanic stole two cases of beer from a beer delivery truck. The victim saw the suspect taking cases of beer from the truck tried to confront the suspect. The suspect entered his vehicle and attempted to knock the victim over and flee the scene. The suspect was able to flee the area before the responding patrol deputies arrived. The victim was able to give the deputies a full vehicle description and a suspect description. This case is actively being investigated by our station Detective Bureau.
A commercial burglary occurred near the 25000 block of Avenue Kearney. Suspect(s) unknown drove into the businesses roll up door and caused the door to cave it. The suspect(s) entered the location and stole 4 high end mountain bikes valued at 29,000 dollars.
A vehicle theft occurred near the area of Goldcrest Drive in Valencia. The victim’s 1996 Honda Accord 4 Dr Ca Lic#3PGH451 was stolen from the location. Suspect(s) Unknown stole the victim’s vehicle from his residence as it was parked in the driveway.
A second vehicle theft occurred near the 28200 block of Newhall Ranch Rd. The victim’s 2014 Honda Accord 4 Dr Ca Lic# 7FCA071 was stolen from the location. No suspect information is currently available.
A third vehicle theft occurred from the 24200 block of Valencia Blvd. The victim’s 2007 Honda accord 4Dr Ca Lic# 6AZM229 was stolen from the location. No suspect information is available.
A vehicle burglary occurred near the 24700 block of Riverchase Drive. The victim left his window down approximately 2-3 inches overnight. The following morning when he returned to his car he noticed all his personal items missing and all of his car doors were unlocked.
A second vehicle theft occurred near the 27000 block of McBean Pkwy. Suspect(s) unknown smashed the victim’s car window and stole a few audio items from inside the car.
A third vehicle theft occurred near the 27000 block of Clarence Court. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim 3rd row seat from her 2007 Chevy Tahoe which was left parked in the driveway.
A fourth vehicle theft occurred near the 24500 block of Town Center Drive. Suspect(s) unknown entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole numerous tools and a few personal items from inside his vehicle.
During this past week we had a total of 3 shoplifting incidents occur at our local businesses. Two out of the three incidents resulted in arrests.
