Extra funds to help provide age-appropriate gifts.
Christmas is looking brighter for local families in need, as online services provider MIS Sciences has made a $1,500 donation to the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station’s holiday toy drive. For the past 20 years, the Sheriff’s Station has collected toys for the holidays from the local community and distributed them to the less-fortunate.
By pre-registering, local families in need are able to receive Christmas presents for their children. This Saturday, December 19, more than 500 families will visit the ‘toy store’ and choose toys for their children. Once the gifts are selected, they will be wrapped at the wrapping station and ready for the big day.
Donations like this one help the Sheriff’s Station cater more specifically to the ages of the children who have registered. Most donors to the program are families with younger children, the toys donated reflect those age groups. Because fewer teenage-appropriate toys are received, this donation will help the provide gift cards to major retailers.
“We just couldn’t do it without contributors like this and all our volunteers and donors,” said Deputy Laurie Baylis.
MIS Sciences provides Web hosting, dedicated servers, colocation, and Internet related services to corporate and government entities. This is one of the largest donations received by the program this year.
