Headlining last years Summer Meltdown Tour was the group Shwayze, a rock/rap group combining the sounds of Cisco Adler, front man for the band Whitestarr, and rapping newcomer Shwayze.

The group came back to Golden Valley High to continue their help with the Yes I Can Program, and took over the morning news show, GVTV, on Thursday morning.

The duo read the morning’s bulletins, congratulated a student on a recent achievement and promoted the 2010 Summer Meltdown concert.

“High school is a hard time, so we have to make everyone feel like they’re welcome, there’s a cool factor, but everyone is cool and there’s no such thing really, we’re all one and we all have to be cool together,” said Shwayze who’s real name is Aaron Smith.

After the morning news the group met in front of the Yes I Can headquarters, located on the Golden Valley campus, and signed autographs, posed for pictures and gave out samples of their new album “Let It Beat,” which is set for release November 3.shwayze_008

“We had so much fun last year that this year we’re coming back but we’re bringing all our friends,” said Adler.

The group was also scheduled to visit Hart, Canyon, Valencia, and Bowman High schools as well as COC.

The Summer Meltdown tour, spearheaded by the Yes I Can program, is an annual event at Golden Valley High School every Spring.

The Yes I Can program teams students from schools throughout the valley with special needs students to work toward a goal of throwing the Summer Meltdown concert.  The students produce the entire concert from booking the bands to production while developing teamwork and using the learning tools they are taught in their class.
