U.S. Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, announced Monday that Morris Thomas will be assuming the position of District Director for the 25th District of California.

Thomas, a native of Alabama and a former Washington, D.C., police officer, has resided in Santa Clarita, for more than 20 years. After spending many years as a small business owner, Thomas joined the Signal newspaper, where he has remained for the past 12 years. Throughout his tenure at The Signal, Thomas served as Circulation Director, Administrative Director and Publisher of the Santa Clarita Business Journal, Interim Publisher, and most recently General Manager.

“I consider this position to be a great honor and I am looking forward to joining Congressman McKeon’s dedicated and accomplished staff in continuing to provide outstanding constituent services to the remarkable citizens of the 25th Congressional District,” said Thomas.

“I am extremely pleased to announce that Morris will be joining our team,” said McKeon. “Morris will bring great experience and knowledge to our office. With his deep roots in the community and impressive background of public service, Morris will be an exceptional resource for constituents. I look forward to working with him in serving the 25th District.”

Thomas received a Bachelor of Science from Cal State University, Long Beach and a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles. Thomas is the father of three daughters, Brittany, Alexia, and Morgan, all of which grew up in Santa Clarita and graduated from Canyon High School.
