“The Grand Ball is a magical evening with fairy tale dreams. The young ladies are dressed in their beautiful ball gowns, each as unique and different as the Debutantes themselves. For months they practice dancing the waltz with their fathers, a very heart-warming highlight of the evening’s festivities,” Levine said. “There is nothing else like it.”

Open to high school seniors that meet program criteria, the 2010-2011 Silver Rose Debutante class includes Leah Michelle Blumenthal, Kendal Muir Glendinning, and Heather Aileen Lincoln of Hart High School; Jordyn Rae Byers, Jessica Lauren Crowder, and Jennifer Marie Fugger of Valencia High School; Vanessa Jaclyn Ferral of Bishop Alemany High School; and Courtney Elaine Hertenstein of Canyon High School.

“For the parents, there is a connection to the Grand Ball and a pride for the girls, an end of senior year awareness that their ‘little girls’ have become beautiful young women, inside and out,” Levine said. “The night is magical for the Debs, their families, and all the guests, as we are transported into a world without problems, with thoughts focusing on endless possibilities, hopes and dreams for the future. It’s a storybook evening.”

In addition to the waltz, the Grand Ball includes a lavish, three-course dinner and the opportunity to interact with distinguished members of the Santa Clarita Valley community. After dinner, guests take to the dance floor to enjoy music from a disc jockey and live band, with a view of the twinkling lights of the city below.

“Of course, the Grand Ball is a great party. There is eating, dancing, laughing, and yes, tears of joy,” Levine said.

Tickets for the Grand Ball are $165 and benefit laboratory services at Henry Mayo. Attire is black tie.

“By attending the Ball, guests show their support for the hospital via the Guild and its fundraising programs. This hospital is here for us, we need to be there for it,” Levine said.
