The first ever Empowering HeARTS, Women Who Empower Women event will be held at the Dianne G. Van Hook University Center on Saturday, November 13, 2010. The event will highlight women in the community who exemplify courage and strength and who have contributed to the lives of others. The featured women will be chosen by local non-profit organizations.
In addition, the event will also celebrate the arts by featuring both local artist and writers who creatively capture the unique essence of each honoree through photography and a distinguishing story. A panel of industry professionals will judge the pieces and prizes will be awarded to the writer and artist who best capture her story and a grand prize will be awarded to the best overall expression. Attendees will be able to purchase the one-of-a-kind photographs and cast a vote for their favorite piece. The collection of photographs will also be available in a book memorializing the event and each woman’s story.
