Sirens Go Off, Deputy Escapes

At 9:18 a.m. Thursday, Sheriff’s deputies launched a search for an “inmate” working in the laundry room at Pitchess Detention center….

The “inmate” was really Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Lutz, who was playing the role of being an inmate.

Officials were testing the warning system that goes off if and when a prisoner escapes from the facility.

Sirens are placed along the Golden State (I-5) Freeway between Castaic and Stevenson Ranch.  Some residents did not receive word that this was a “test,” so some nerves were rattled.
