Coroner’s officials have identified the remains found two weeks ago in the Santa Clarita River.
Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said that the remains are those of 48-year-old Robert March Fields. The remains, which were mostly skeletal, were found October 15 in a brushy area of the riverbed near the South Fork Trail.
A hiker looking for his lost pet came upon Fields’ body and homicide investigators were called to the scene.
Winter added that the cause of death was deferred, pending further testing.
