Center forges new partnerships in Antelope Valley.
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC), hosted by College of the Canyons, is extending its reach, thanks to freshly announced partnerships with the city of Lancaster, Wells Fargo Bank and the Antelope Valley Board of Trade.
The news was detailed at a press conference this morning, and it will allow potential and existing small business owners in the northern Antelope Valley greater access to business counseling and training services.
Seven Small Business Development Centers operate in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, and our local office was started in 2006 at College of the Canyons. The Center offers a wide range of services to small businesses, including startup information, workshops, and one-on-one consulting.
In addition, ideas and suggestions for additional session topics – as well as inquiries from community members interested in teaching workshops based on their personal experience and expertise – are welcomed.
Wells Fargo and the Antelope Valley Board of Trade are providing the use of their facilities to host the SBDC’s new lineup of low-cost workshops and no-cost counseling services.
“We are very pleased to welcome the City of Lancaster as a local sponsor of SBDC consulting and training activities,” said Steve Tannehill, Director of the SBDC hosted by College of the Canyons. “With their financial support, and the facilities support provided by the Antelope Valley Board of Trade and Wells Fargo, the SBDC will be able to provide its highly-regarded services to entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the Lancaster area.”
The City of Lancaster’s support of the SBDC’s lineup of expanded services in the Antelope Valley was established based on the notion that local economies thrive when small businesses thrive.
“It is one of our primary responsibilities as a City to build relationships and partnerships with agencies that will further the growth and development of our local business community, as it is the backbone of our financial stability,” said Vern Lawson, Director of Economic Development/Redevelopment with the City of Lancaster.
The new series of SBDC business training workshops will be conducted at the Lancaster Wells Fargo branch training facilities located at Wells Fargo Training Room, 802 West Lancaster Blvd., in Lancaster. Business counseling sessions will be held at the Antelope Valley Board of Trade offices located at 548 West Lancaster Blvd., Suite 103, in Lancaster.
