Assemblyman Cameron Smyth has picked up the issue of posting
grades of nursing homes for public review after County Supervisor Mike
Antonovich championed the issue at the Board of Supervisors, where it received
unanimous support in January.
Smyth and fellow Assemblyman Mike Feuer have sponsored AB215,
which would make the postings mandatory.
The grading system is generated by the Center for
Medicare and Medicaid, a federal agency which inspects long-term care
facilities and rates them on health inspection rankings, staffing levels and
other quality measures.
