College of the Canyons Board Member Scott Wilk has received the endorsement from Assemblyman Cameron Smyth in his bid to be reelected to Seat 5 on the Santa Clarita Community College District governing board.
Wilk is also expected to run for Smyth’s Assembly seat. Wilk says if he is elected Assembly Member he will resign from the board. He is being challenged by for the COC Board by adjunct professor Patrick Hill.
Wilk said funding colleges is the most important issue he’d like to address if elected to another term.
“We have to balance the funding out of Sacramento with access to students and the community,” said Wilk.
When asked to comment on Patricia McKeon (wife of U.S. Congressman Buck McKeon of the 25th District) who has decided to run for Smyth’s assembly seat said,”Everybody who is legally qualified has the right to run.”
However, Wilk insisted he is the most experienced person to deliver from day one.
