Smyth Looks To Establish Santa Susana State Park

Assemblyman Smyth has introduced Assembly Bill 102, which directs the Department of Parks and Recreation to establish the Santa Susana State Park Advisory Committee (SSSPAC) in order to help create the Santa Susana State Park , located near Chatsworth.

The Park Advisory Committee will be responsible for assisting DPR, in an advisory capacity, to plan for interim and permanent land uses and facilities through the general planning process for the SSFL site.  Members of the PAC shall be selected by the director and include representatives from local, state, and federal agencies, environmental, historic preservation, and cultural organizations, museums, educational institutions and organizations, individuals and private sector entities, and community-based organizations.

A new state park that incorporates the field lab property will preserve thousands of acres of open space while forever putting to rest the question of whether the property will be developed into a residential community.
