As part of this work, which includes a valve replacement and upgrades to dehydration plants and meters, SoCalGas crews will occasionally release natural gas within its Honor Rancho Storage Facility, located near the intersection of West Rye Canyon Road and Brady Parkway. Charcoal air filters will be used during planned venting to minimize community impacts.

To minimize any odor, charcoal canisters will filter the natural gas as plant systems and pipelines are vented. While natural gas odors are not expected to be noticeable, some residents may occasionally smell natural gas, and may also hear some work-related noise.

Work will begin on Friday, Oct. 21 and will continue through Tuesday, Nov. 8. SoCalGas may extend work hours, should any unforeseen circumstances arise.
Appropriate agencies have been notified of the planned releases of natural gas. Customers will not experience any service interruptions. No road closures are expected.

SoCalGas objectives are to work safely and to provide the communities they serve with safe and reliable natural gas service.
Residents with questions may contact SoCalGas’ call center at 1-800-427-2200. The call center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The energy company is also reminding residents to perform their own seasonal maintenance on their gas equipment.

SoCalGas has provided some tips such as:

  • Vacuum and clean regularly in and around the furnace, particularly around the burner compartment to prevent a buildup of dust and lint
  • Never store items in, on or around the appliance that can obstruct airflow
  • Most forced-air units have a filter that cleans the air before heating and circulating it throughout the home. The filter should be checked monthly for lint build-up during periods of furnace use and cleaned or replaced, if necessary.
