Soroptimist International Of The SCV Receives Governor’s Club Award

Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley attended the regional Spring Conference in Ventura during the weekend of April 26. The three-day event included the club awards banquet, workshops, speakers and women and girls’ recognition awards.

Soroptimist International SCVOf the 28 clubs in the region, SISCV was the only one to earn 300 points or more with 323 points, and received the first place Governor’s Club Award. The Governor’s Club Award recognizes participation in local and international projects outlined by Soroptimist International.

SISCV also received the “Soroptimists Celebrating Success!” award, which is presented for outstanding club projects that improve the lives of women and girls.

As a region finalist, the club’s entry will be automatically advanced to the international level judging. The Soroptimist Board of Directors will review all of the region finalist submissions from around the world and select the top entry for the international level.

Another recognition for the club was their participation in the “Club Giving – empowering women to live their dreams” program. The President of Soroptimist International has challenged clubs to retain 90 percent of funds raised for local projects benefitting women and girls, and to invest just 10 percent in Soroptimist programs funded at the international level. SISCV met the challenge by donating their first 10 percent of all funds raised to Soroptimist International.

Additionally, five members of the club received the “Distinguished Soroptimist” award for their dedication and efforts to the Soroptimist mission.
