Special Olympics Torch Gets Lit By Fire Dept

Fundraiser brings a whole new meaning to tipping.

Wednesday night, May 9th, all are invited to Buca Di Beppo off of Town Center Drive to eat, drink, and make a difference.

Firefighters from around Santa Clarita and beyond will be teaming up with the wait staff at the restaurant to try to pull in tip money that will be given to the Special Olympics.

Donation envelopes will be at the tables for patrons to contribute if they wish.

Aside from helping out the waiters and waitresses, the Fire Department personnel will be available to answer questions about the Special Olympics, a group they’ve been helping for quite some time.

This is a yearly event that the Firefighters put on, however it is similar to other events run by the Sheriff’s Department and other agencies.

“What’s really great about this event is that all the money goes directly to local Special Olympic athletes,” said Firefighter Simon Sage, who is helping to organize the night.

That means that all money collected bypasses any holding agencies and goes directly to Santa Clarita recipients.

So if you’re hungry tonight, feel free to stop by to be waited on by a Firefighter, and help a great local cause.
