Wednesday, at approximately 5:30 p.m. a man in his 50’s or 60’s attempted to stab a woman but was unsuccessful. Claiming to have explosives, a shotgun and a hostage, the suspect barricaded himself inside an apartment at the Diamond Park Apartments located at Solement and Dolan Way in Canyon Country. Soledad Canyon Road at Solement and Sierra Highway at Dolan Way were blocked as Deputies surrounded the complex. 

As a precautionary measure, L.A County Fire landed a rescue helicopter at Canyon Country Park, ready to transport any victims. Deputies moved in at about 8:30 p.m. and arrested the suspect without incident.

The Diamond Park Apartments had been evacuated and a shelter was setup by the Red Cross during the three hour standoff.
