Senate still weighing in

Early Friday morning the California State Assembly successfully passed the 2007-2008 State Budget. The act came after much late night debate, with many legislators up until the wee hours of the morning.

 

Now, the State Senate is weighing the 140 billion dollar issue, however, it is difficult to predict how they will act.

Assembly Republican Leader Mike Villines, of Fresno, hailed the Assembly’s passage Budget, which he said makes progress in reducing the budget deficit and includes hundreds of millions of dollars in new tax incentives to promote more job creation in California. 

[view:node_ad=5]The budget fully funds K-12 education and California’s public colleges and universities, and provides critical funds for local law enforcement across the state.  While Republicans were successful in reducing ongoing budget spending, they cautioned more work remains before we can eliminate the deficit once and for all.

“Our budget agreement fully funds important budget priorities like education and public safety, provides millions in tax incentives to encourage economic growth, and ensures that infrastructure bond funds will be spent as the people intended,” Villines said.
