State Senate Names Fleming Woman Of The Year

Cheri Fleming Named Woman of the Year for Senate District 17.

ImageThe State Senate celebrated the 21st anniversary of honoring exemplary women at the annual Woman of the Year ceremony. Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) honored Santa Clarita Valley community leader Cheri Fleming.


“Cheri Fleming has made significant contributions for our community in the Santa Clarita Valley.  This was an opportunity to honor her for her leadership and her tireless efforts,” said Runner.


Cheri Fleming, with her husband Don, has owned different businesses in the area for over a decade.  Their entrepreneurial spirit has contributed to the economic vitality of the Santa Clarita Valley and developed many jobs. 


Fleming has been a tireless volunteer and leader in the community and has been involved with many community organizations.  She serves as Director and Past Chair of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation, Region District Director for the Soroptimist International Camino Real Region and Past President of the Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley. She has also served as Vice President of Special Events and Past Chairman for the Child and Family Center Foundation, Director and Chair-Elect of the American Cancer Society Unit and Director of the American Cancer Society Los Angeles Regional Unit Council.


Runner continued, “I am glad to have the opportunity to recognize Cheri as my district’s Woman of the Year.  The Santa Clarita Valley has greatly benefited from her leadership and commitment to the community.”
