Wayward driver takes out Edison pole, fire hydrant, coffee and tacos.
Two businesses were forced to close Tuesday after water from
a geyser collapsed part of their ceilings.
Starbucks and Chronic Taco, in the Albertson’s center at Bouquet
Canyon Road at Haskell
Canyon Road, were the victims of a single-car
traffic accident that happened at 5:45 a.m.
Lt. Mark Hershey of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department
said that a driver coming home from work hit the Edison
pole and a fire hydrant near Susan Beth Way,
causing the geyser that soaked the roof of the nearby businesses.
Hershey said both establishments had extensive damage and
would be closed for an unknown length of time until the damage could be
repaired and the stores cleaned up.
Chronic Taco founder Randy Wyner said the store – which opened
only a week ago and was one of the busiest in the chain – will be closed for
approximately two weeks. Starbucks was unavailable for comment.
