Storm Impacts Area Traffic

news_stormwatchTraffic on the freeways is exceptionally hazardous because of the rain and wind; earlier today the California Highway Patrol handled more than a dozen incidents in the Newhall area. The most serious incident was on the southbound 14 at Newhall Avenue where a construction truck has gone through K-rail in the center divider and into the northbound lanes.

They were also working incidents on the northbound I-5 at McBean Parkway and Magic Mountain Parkway; the southbound 14 freeway at Sierra Highway and Agua Dulce Canyon Road and the northbound 14 freeway at Placerita Canyon and Soledad Canyon Roads.

Heavy snow was also reported in the Grapevine and Frazier Park. Rain and winds are expected to increase significantly as the storm front moves in tonight.

City traffic crews have put up signs along Sand Canyon Road warning drivers about flooded conditions between Soledad Canyon Road and Placerita Canyon Roads. The road remains open. In Elizabeth Lake, the northbound lanes of Elizabeth Lake Road just west of Bouquet Canyon Road are completely flooded.

Remember to slow down and drive carefully as the storm continues throughout the week.
