Strickland Statement On Budget Impasse

tony_strickland_thumbAlbert Einstein said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Once again, the Democrat budget plan is more of the same; their status quo has given us the third highest unemployment rate in the nation, only behind Michigan and Nevada.

With our high taxes and hostile business environment, California has essentially become an economic development agency for states like Florida and Texas. The only way to get out of this budget deficit is by creating a better business climate to create jobs.

The Democrats in Sacramento continue to treat Californians like a personal ATM machine for their over-spending. The majority party’s budget increases taxes by $4.5 billion; this on the heels of last year’s $12.5 billion tax increase – the largest in history. Working families across California have to live within their means and make tough budget choices – shouldn’t the California government have to do the same?

I support a plan which provides a balanced budget with NO tax increases and focuses on creating jobs to grow our economy and put people back to work.
