Students Invited To Picture Transit Conservation

khts_citymatters_scvlogoThe City of Santa Clarita invites local middle school and high school students to participate in the second annual Santa Clarita Transit Go Green art contest. Open until June 1, the contest encourages local students to illustrate, through traditional art, graphic design or photography, how Santa Clarita Transit helps their family and the community.

This year’s theme is “Go Green and Dump the Pump!” Contestants are encouraged to tell us how they and their families are combating escalating gas prices through the use of City buses. Contest winners will be notified on Dump the Pump Day, June 16, and all winnind artwork will be displayed at the city’s Transit Maintenance Facility.

The contest will be broken down into two age groups: middle school (grades 7 and 8) and high school (grades 9-12). A $100 cash prize and $50 towards Santa Clarita Transit fare will be awarded to the grand prize winners in each age group in the categories of Traditional Art, Graphic Design and Photography. A $50 cash prize and $25 toward Santa Clarita Transit fare will be awarded to the first prize winners in each age group.

All entries must be a minimum of 8”x10” and a maximum of 11”x17” in size. One entry will be accepted per artist. City employees and family members are not eligible to enter. Contestants must submit entries in person or via mail to Patrick Bryant, City of Santa Clarita Transit Maintenance Facility, 28250 Constellation Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91355.
