The popular bus service fills up quickly, so residents should make reservations early. To reserve a trip, visit or call (888) 769-1122 up to a week in advance but no later than 24 hours prior to departure. Round trip fares are $4 for adults and children; senior citizens (those over age 60) and persons with disabilities pay $2 for a round trip. Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

The Summer Beach Bus Program, operated by LA County Public Works, provides service to Santa Monica State Beach from the cities of Palmdale, Lancaster, La Cañada Flintridge and Duarte, as well as the communities of Castaic, West Ranch, Charter Oak, La Crescenta and Altadena.
