Summer Concerts In the Park Lineup Announced

concertartThe City of Santa Clarita’s Concerts in the Park series is one of the most popular summertime traditions year after year. The free annual concert series begins July 10 and runs through August 28, with all shows starting Saturdays at 7 p.m. at Central Park.

The 2010 series will kick off on July 10 with a performance by Incendio. Famous for their invigorating live shows and four critically acclaimed albums, the band showcases an infectious world fusion and Latin guitar sound sure to bring even the most reserved concert attendees to their feet.

“Concerts in the Park is one of the City’s most celebrated summer traditions and the City is proud to once again present the popular event at no cost to attendees,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “Community members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and the entire family to enjoy fantastic performances all summer long.”

The 2010 Concert series continues on July 17 with the Platinum Rock Stars. The band will bring their acclaimed Classic Rock Superstar Show to Central Park, featuring hits from Led Zeppelin, Boston, Van Halen, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi. Fantastic Diamond follows up on July 24, performing a string of Neil Diamond’s hottest hits brought to life by a great group of musicians fronted by extraordinary vocalist Kevin Hogan.

The SCV All Stars will make a return to Concerts in the Park this year on July 31, as a host of local and talented musicians perform an energetic mix of tribute songs from a wide variety of genres. Bring your dancing shoes, creepers or wingtips to Central Park on August 7 for the Zoot Suit Review – a nationally acclaimed Retro Swing, Rockin’ Oldies show. The exciting band will bring their custom zoot suits and slick dance moves to the stage as they cover hits by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Brian Setzer, Elvis, Frank Sinatra and more.

The hits will keep coming on August 14 with a performance by Durell Coleman, a Motown, soul, classic and current R&B 12-piece band featuring former Star Search champion Durell Coleman. The set will include multiple vocalists, choreography, and a powerful horn section to infuse true soul into some of R&B’s greatest hits.

The California Transit Authority will take the stage on August 21 along with drummer Danny Seraphine, one of the founding members of the Grammy award-winning band Chicago. Rounded out with a host of award-winning artists, the band will perform high powered world-class music- Chicago style.

Finally, on August 28, Don’t Stop Believing will make its triumphant return to the stage for the Concerts in the Park finale. The riveting Journey tribute band performed to a crowd of more than 10,000 for the 2009 Concerts in the Park series, and is expected to close out the 2010 series with a bang.
