Two separate incidents seem minor, but cost residents jail time.
Two Canyon Country residents took advantage of county-provided air conditioning on Sunday after being arrested in separate incidents.
Jaime Flores Aguilar, 24, took his neighbor’s 1991 Honda, but was stopped by deputies on Sierra Highway. When it was discovered he didn’t have a license, deputies towed the car, leaving Aguilar to walk home with a citation.
Shortly after the traffic stop, the owner of the car reported the vehicle stolen, causing deputies to follow the address on the citation back to the apartment complex that was home to both victim and suspect and arrest Aguilar. He is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
And at 3 a.m. Sunday, Mary Helen Loaiza, 57, challenged deputies who were making their third visit to her Ironshire Street home to quiet a loud party. Her actions caused deputies to take her into custody, despite protestations from her husband, who was shouting from the front door.
Loaiza spent the day in a jail cell and was released late Sunday night.
