17 year old Tommy Hart has been in the scouts since first grade, beginning as a young Cub Scout before entering the Boy Scouts and eventually to his current rank of Life Scout. Tommy with the help of SunPower by Green Convergence began his final submission to become an Eagle Scout.

Tommy explained the prestigious Eagle Scouts are people who before their 18th birthday, have completed all the required accomplishments of mastering scout skills, earning merit badges, and completing a project which will permanently benefit their community. Tommy wanted to help his “Real Life Church” in Santa Clarita California, by building an emergency supply shed that houses the church’s emergency supplies.

Tommy met with Greg Lewis, the church’s facility manager who both agreed building the shed would help consolidate the previously scattered emergency supplies, a testament to the scouts motto of ‘Be Prepared.’ Tommy did not want to end his project here, he wanted to figure out a way to make the shed more helpful to emergency first responders and those in medical need. With the reliability and versatility that comes from SunPower by Green Convergence solar energy, Tommy met with SunPower by Green Convergence to inquire about installing solar panels to power a solar battery that could divert power to the various attachments that needed to be switched on.

He admitted at first he was nervous to meet with the company, since after all he was asking them to install the panels free of charge, but he confided that SunPower by Green Convergence happily offered to donate the materials and install them before he could ask about price. Tommy happily admitted that SunPower by Green Convergence dedicated hours of time to help meet his needs, ensuring the project would be a success, without them “I could not have accomplished what I did.”

The project helps the church to be more prepared in case of an emergency in an efficient and environmentally friendly way, having all emergency supplies consolidated in a shed fueled by solar power. Thanks to Tommy Hart and SunPower by Green Convergence, responders will no longer need to rush into the shed with flash lights, or switch on unreliable CO2 admitting lights in an emergency situation.

First responders can save viable time in a emergency situation possibly actually saving lives. Mr. Hart with the help of SunPower by Green Convergence will reach his long-time goal of becoming an Eagle Scout, working hard to give his church a project that will permanently benefit his community and people in need.
