The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors agreed to transfer property tax revenues to the city of Santa Clarita pending the annexations of two unincorporated areas.
The decision now goes to the Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) who will ultimately approve or deny the annexations of a 69-acre property located north of city limits, commonly refereed to as Copperstone, and an 8.3 acre future retail shopping center in Canyon Country.

If LAFCO approves the annexations, the County will transfer $93,006 annually in base property tax revenues from its General Fund to the City of Santa Clarita for the annexation of Copperstone and $1,593 annually in property tax for the smaller parcel in Canyon Country, known as Soledad Commons.
Both areas will be withdrawn from the County Road Maintenance District, the County Lighting Maintenance District and the County Public Library system.
LAFCO will schedule public hearings prior to making final decisions on the annexations.
