Upshaw is being held in lieu of $10 million bail and is scheduled to appear in San Fernando Superior Court today.

Upshaw will face felony charges in Los Angeles County including sexual assault, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, rape by force, sodomy, and other sex crimes.

Suspect Upshaw was arrested by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, New York, thanks to the persistent assistance of deputy U.S. Marshals across the United States, and the relentless efforts of Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detective Dave Campbell.

Detective Campbell said, “There was no way we were going to let the suspect get away with this. We all knew we would never stop until he faced justice.”

A series of small clues, DNA evidence, and skilled detective work by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Detective Campbell helped provide the information needed to help locate the whereabouts of the suspect. The expertise of deputy U.S. Marshals, and rapid assistance by deputies with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of Suspect Upshaw one year and six days after the assault.
