Suspect is reported to have been deported twice.
Adrian Guadalupe Arriano, who was arrested in Sept. 2007 on suspicion of rape, was held to answer by a San Fernando judge and is being held on $10 million bail.
Arriano was charged with 27 felony counts on Feb. 19, including burglary, robbery, assault, attempted murder and several charges of sexual penetration with a foreign object and forcible rape. Thursday’s action verifies that there is enough evidence to bind him over for trial.
During a press conference at the time of his arrest, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Captain Anthony LaBerge said Arriano was believe to be an illegal alien and had been deported twice before.
Arriano is suspected in rapes that occurred in January and March and attempts in June and September, with the last incident resulting in his arrest.
District Attorney spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said that Arriano’s next court appearance will be May 19 for a pre-trial conference. He is being held at Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles.
