khts_crimeSCV Deputies make quick arrest.

Just before noon Friday, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s deputies responded to a victim who claimed to have been shot twice in the legs on the 16400 Block of West Palomino Place, Canyon Country. The victim told deputies that the man who shot him was making a getaway in a black Cadillac Escalade.

While responding to the scene, a deputy with a sharp eye noticed a black Cadillac Escalade, on the 14 freeway and organized a traffic stop.

When deputies searched the vehicle they found the suspected shooter Cesar Madrigal, 26, of Canyon Country, lying back in a reclining seat along with a gun and money believed to be taken from the crime scene.

He and a woman driver, Yvonne Gutierrez, 28, of Canyon Country, were taken into custody.

According to deputies the victim said that Madrigal, who is a friend, came to his home and demanded money.  When the victim refused, Madrigal pulled out a gun and shot him twice.  The victim then gave Madrigal the money he was demanding.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Both suspects are being held at Santa Clarita Valley Station on suspicion of Attempted Murder in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

Three children were in the vehicle at the time of the arrest and they will be released to the Department of Children’s Services.
